Production and Post-Production go hand in hand. Decisions made in the pre-production stage are part of the production process, and poor decisions in the pre-production process usually lead to chaos and confusion in the production process. Challenges in the production process are greatly amplified in the post-production process.

SMG training discusses pre-production decisions regardless of whether we’re training production or post-production processes and techniques. Without proper planning, projects become challenged. The goal of any instructional program is to remove as many obstacles and challenges to a successful outcome.  Regardless of whether we’re working with highly experienced professionals looking to round out their portfolio, or newcomers to the production world, a discussion of fundamental decisions will be a part of the initial conversation and program.

PRODUCTION/PRE-PRODUCTION

Audio and microphone choices as taught at NAB 2018

Starting out on the best foot is the first step to ensuring production quality, to capture content that the editor and post-production teams will be able to most efficiently and effectively work with to create a final product. In these seminars, we start at the planning phase and work into the production itself.  All of our training programs provide both theoretical and practical training, putting equipment directly into the hands of attendees.

POST PRODUCTION

Post is where the magic comes together, and all the bits and pieces collected for the project, including the project library of graphics, stingers, music beds, and other non-production elements are combined to create the finished project.

Our post production classes range from post-production “repair” techniques for poor production to color correction/grading, color timing, audio processing/mixing, transitions, compositing, compression, and more.
